My 8mnth old is sick.... help?

I brought my 8mnth old to the doctor yesterday.. he said his throat was real bad but didnt know what the fever might be from.. either teething or an infection.. however he prescriped me antibiotics and told me to keep giving him tylenol.. ive been doing both,, but hes been feeling hot all day and sleeping the whole day.. are there any midwive tales or something anyone can tell me on how to keep his temp down... hes not beeen eating well and hes just not looking good at all but his doc told me to wait a few days.. suggestions...? Im just a concerned mom and my mom cant help me bc shes at work so..
